the original RetroSampler has been my most downloaded device so far so it was logical to finally devote some time into developing a fully featured version. I must say though that I definitely lost some sleep over this! It's damn hard to compete with Ableton's stock samplers, especially when Max' waveform and ADSR controls are so damn limited and/or buggy. I hope I could make up for it with some other features! Maybe I'll find some time to showcase them in some videos soon.
But besides its quirks I can confidently say that RetroSampler now exactly sounds how I imagine a sampler should sound like, and honestly better than any of the many hardware samplers I have owned. But that's of course totally subjective. My girlfriend says it looks like a microwave.

RetroSampler/RetroSampler Pro is a lo-fi sample player inspired by hardware samplers of the 90s. It features adjustable sample and bit rate, clock jitter control, low pass filter with drive control and an integrated ADSR envelope. Lowering the sample rate will introduce the sought-after "ringing" effect found in older samplers which is not just a simple decimation effect: the resampling algorithm accurately follows the transposed pitch without interpolation.
The sound can further be manipulated with 3 independent LFOs and 9 possible destination.
